Now that 2016 is upon us, it is worth reflecting on and sharing some of the work of 2015. It was an exciting year for us in the studio. Some of the projects we will share with you soon (such as Willetton Senior High School, Strand Subiaco and George Street Brisbane). The big news is we have been given a very exciting international opportunity.
From an international long-list of 40 artists, Stuart Green with Big Spoon Art Services were selected as the preferred artist for an extremely large commission in Qatar; a series of artworks of a rare monumental scale for the public realm. After an earlier site visit and tour, we personally presented our concept designs, along with two other shortlisted artists in September and we were successful as preferred artist for the Artscape of the future Al Zubara Expressway, including a new gateway piece welcoming people into Qatar from the future Bahrain-Qatar causeway.
We are delighted to be recognised internationally and given the opportunity to contribute to the Artscape vision for this new infrastructure project, and to show case some of the professional experience we have gained working in Australia. Work on this project will not start for quite some time and we will update progress periodically.
Closer to home, the workshop has been abuzz in the past few months making new works. We have been finalising a major work for the Perth Children's Hospital, producing light-based animations for the Elizabeth Quay "Artists Edge", sculpting a series of pieces for a major development in Claremont, making some beautiful sculpture/furniture pieces destined for Albany and fabricating several building integrated pieces and a large sculpture for a residential development in Maylands.
It has been a busy and artistically rewarding time.
Stay tuned for updates on these projects and many others to come on this new section of our website. There will be much to see and excite.
