Gone to Seed , Commissioned as part of City of Brisbane’s Mt Coot-tha Botanic Gardens ‘platform’ project, the work takes as its starting point seed forms and fruit structure as might be encountered at the site.

This work was a collaboration between Stuart Green and Ben Price, and developed as an investigation into the break up of radial shape into growth patterns or packing segmentation observed in fruit and seed pods.

The materiality and fabrication of the sculpture is often a key part of its reason for being. Here the work was partly about the efficient way in which the parts packed together to make the whole. Structural efficiency is often seen in nature and this work picks up on that combination of simplicity and organic complexity
